Voice Over Internet Protocol, this is what VOIP stands for. This type of technology allows you to make and receive phone call using your internet connection instead of the regular analog phone line. Calling through Yahoo Voice Calls or SKYPE is one type of internet calling. We all been using this type of service and enjoying it way before we realized what VOIP is. Calling through Skype to another people using Skype is for free, so basically, you can call anywhere in the world using Skype if you will be calling on Skype also. You can also call landlines or mobiles for a minimal rate. If you want to find out more about Skype, you can check this out www.about.skype.com .

VOIP users are estimated to reach over 24 million users by the end of 2008. More than half of the enterprise is currently using VOIP to cut down the costs of their phone bill. I am not talking about using Skype or Yahoo Voice Calls alone, this is using your regular handset with the VOIP. Yes, it’s not all about making phone calls in front of your computer. VOIP services will allow you to make and receive phone calls the way you do with your regular landline. It will definitely replace your traditional line then. You can still call out to 911 for emergency. When you sign up for VOIP service, they will register your physical address or the address where you will be using the service for your 911 dialing. If there is emergency, all you need to do is to dial 911 and they have your emergency location right away.

For VOIP in Europe, you could check out the VOIP Company if the can make emergency calls. Though VOIP is getting more famous in Europe, VOIP users are using this type of service to complement their traditional landline and not to replace them. Not being able to make emergency calls may not be a major issue for you. However, with Nomado Internet Telephony, if the customer has a landline and use it with a Nomado Box, he can make emergency calls using his landline through the Nomado box. The customer can plug his existing landline on the nomado box (SPA model) and make emergency calls through it.

Using a traditional landline side by side with VOIP would be a great idea if you’re in Europe to crash out the emergency calling issues. This would be great option to cut down your bills in calling other countries. Say for example with Nomado Internet Telephony, they have several plans that would best suit your needs. You just need to be aware which location you call a lot and the time and money you spent in making phone calls on certain location. You’ll definitely get a good bargain. You may want to check out www.nomado.eu and you can get a free trial for a month.

One of the famous VOIP Company in the U.S is Vonage. This will allow you take call anywhere in United States. No time limit, no time restrictions. This is what they say with “a phone for less”. If you want to check out Vonage, visit www.vonage.com, and they are giving out 30 day trial too.
